The Quantcast Choice CMP was sold to InMobi in 2023, and is now InMobi Choice CMP.

Respect for consumer privacy is a core tenet for Quantcast, and we’ve been at the forefront of helping the digital advertising industry evolve to meet consumers’ changing expectations for transparency and control over how their data is used by third parties. As a leader in consent management, Quantcast also began offering one of the first TCF-compliant CMPs, Quantcast Choice, to publishers and advertisers for free. Quantcast Choice, our free consent management platform (CMP), supports brands and publishers in managing GDPR and CCPA requirements across the web and mobile apps.

What is Consent Management?

Consent management is the backbone of digital privacy. Consent management platforms enable businesses to obtain consent to online data collection, and respect consumers’ choices about how their data is used.

Personal Information and Data Privacy

Digital consent has dominated headlines for the past few years as governments grapple with how to best protect citizens’ privacy rights online. The European Union’s GDPR and California’s CCPA are prominent examples of recent regulations that guide how businesses can obtain, use,  and share online personal information.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

GDPR, enforced since May 2018, is a comprehensive and complex digital privacy regulation in the European Union (EU). It’s one of the reasons why nearly every website asks for permission to collect and store cookies and why consent management is so important. The regulation stipulates that websites must adhere to specific guidelines when gathering and processing certain online data.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

Since January 2020, the CCPA has given California residents more control over how businesses collect, process, and sell their online personal information. It seeks to safeguard consumer privacy by giving CA residents the right to be notified about data collection, delete personal information, and opt-out of the sale of this information to third parties. A key difference from the EU’s GDPR is that the CCPA, in addition to a host of obligations, also requires businesses to get permission to collect and share indirect personal data.
